Player Code of Conduct Agreement
Shawano Boys Hoops Organization

The objective of the Shawano Boys Hoops Organization is to teach the children of our community the game of basketball in a positive and constructive manner. In addition to learning basic basketball skills, they will also learn fair play and sportsmanship. As a player, you hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for your teammates and other players participating in the Shawano Boys Hoops program by following this Code of Conduct:
• I will always exhibit good sportsmanship and be respectful of my fellow players and players on the other team.
• I will not argue or be disrespectful to any referee.
• I will listen to my coach and follow the rules that he or she establishes for the team.
• I will attend every practice and game that is reasonably possible and notify my coach if I cannot. I will be on time for practices and games.
• I will not use any foul or inappropriate language or engage in any verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, referee or other attendee during any game or practice.
• I will support coaches and officials working with me, to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
• I will place sportsmanship ahead of my personal desire to win.
• I will always remember that it is a privilege to play.
Disciplinary Actions
If a player is verbally, physically or using any social media to BULLY, or put a player or a coach down, the consequence will be:
• First offense: Player/parent/coach will meet with the Board to discuss and decide availability of the player.
• Second offense: Player will need to write an apology to the recipient before he can participate in practice. He will also be unavailable for the next tournament.
• Third offense: Player will be banned from the program the remainder of the season.
• Depending upon the severity of the offense, the Board may choose to bypass Offenses 1 & 2.
Missed practices- Player/parent needs to notify the coach in advance (preferably several days) if player is not going to be at practice or is ill that day:
• First Unexcused: Will start the first game on the bench
• Second Unexcused: One game suspension
• Third Unexcused: Miss one tournament
• Fourth Unexcused: Meet with the Board to discuss consequence
If a player is late for practice: Players are expected to be at practice on time
• First Tardiness: Verbal warning by Coach
• Second Tardiness: May result in reduced playing time
If a player receives a technical or flagrant foul during the season, the consequences will be: (The coach will need to inform the Board of the occurrence)
• First Offense: Player will be unable to participate in the next game.
• Second Offense: Player will be unable to participate in the next tournament.
• Third Offense: Player will be banned from the program for the remainder of the season.
If a player is ejected from the game, the consequences will be: (The coach will need to inform the Board of the occurrence)
• First Offense: Player will not be able to play in the rest of the tournament that day and will be unavailable for the next scheduled tournament.
• Second Offense: A meeting with the coach/player/parents/board will be required before the player can practice or play. The Board will determine if he will be banned from the program for the remainder of the season.
If a player is consistently disrespectful to his coach, the consequence will be:
• This will be left up to the coach’s discretion. If it becomes an issue and the coach is unable to resolve it, then the player/parents/coach will meet with the Board to discuss and find a resolution.
Citizenship
• If a student athlete is in chronic trouble in school during season or is in trouble with the police department, the player will be suspended for (1) tournament. If violations continue, or issues with the police, or if any of the violations are a physical altercation in any form, the player will be suspended for the remainder of the year and will forfeit all registration and uniform fees. Practice jerseys will need to be returned clean and in satisfactory condition. If a player is suspended from school at any time during the basketball season, the player will be ineligible to play at the next scheduled tournament. If a player is expelled from school, the player is suspended for the remainder of the season.
I have read and understand and understand this Code of Conduct as described above. I understand that any failure to abide by this code of conduct could result in forfeiture of my tournament participation as well as participation in the program for future events. I agree to follow all the rules of the Shawano Boys Hoops Organization and its guidelines.
I understand that failure to accept the Code of Conduct will make me ineligible to participate in any Shawano Boys Hoops sponsored activity for the calendar school year.
